(AURORA, Ind.) -- The South Dearborn Boys Soccer Team took on the Batesville Bulldogs on Backman Field on Tuesday.
First, the JV Knights played a great game against the JV Bulldogs and held the game to a 1-1 draw with the Knights goal coming from freshman Cameron Cheek with an assist by sophomore Jacee Cole. SD’s entire JV team was excellent moving the ball, supporting each other, defending the goal, and taking advantage of drives in the Bulldogs’ third.
The Varsity Knights kicked off their match with force, moving the ball with speed and grace. The great ball movement paid off midway through the first half with a tiki-taka goal assisted by senior Austyn Tibbs and a finish by senior Hunter Garland. The Knights finished another goal in the second half with senior Tibbs playing a pass far to the right side with sophomore Louis Cesene slamming a long ball finish to the top left over the Bulldog Keeper. The defense held Batesville for most of the night only allowing one after a strong battle in the box.
Junior Keeper Gabve Perry had 7 saves and sophomore Gage Harris handled the few balls that came his way in JV with ease.
At halftime of the Varsity match the Knights honored some of their favorite teachers. It is always cool to see the teachers come and support the boys. It means a lot to them.
The Knights are back in action on Thursday night at Rushville with a 6pm varsity match.
