(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers won the IHSAA Class 2A on Saturday afternoon.
This marked the first-ever Lawrenceburg soccer state championship and also the school's fifth IHSAA state title.
The Tigers played Mishawaka Marian at IU Indianapolis. It was a back-and-forth game for the first 40 minutes as it was 0-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Mishawaka Marian put a ball in the back of the net in the 38th minute. However, there was an offsides penalty and the goal didn't count.
With three minutes left, Lawrenceburg's Preslee Rugg headed a ball into the net but an offsides was also called.
The game went into double overtime before Penalty Kicks decided the match.
