Laurel hosts memorial ride for 24-year-old racecar driver

Ashlea Albertson was killed in road rage incident

(LAUREL, Ind.) -- A motorcycle ride was held on Saturday in honor of a racecar driver who passed away in August.

24-year-old Ashlea Albertson was a passenger in the car when she was killed in a road rage incident on I-65 in Jackson County.

Albertson was a TQ midget driver for Tony Stewart Racing. She also worked as a Union insulator.

Family and friends have launched a fundraiser to inspire other women to pursue their passions in roles that are traditionally male-dominated.

The motorcycle benefit ride began at the LongBranch Tavern in Laurel and traveled to Bryant' in Lake Santee before going to two places in Rushville and Shelbyville.
