Anderson served in the Korean War
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – A 93-year-old veteran from Lawrenceburg attended the Honor Flight to Washington on Tuesday.
Roy Anderson was joined by his son, Kevin, for the trip which brings veterans to war memorials that were created in their honor.
Anderson not only served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, but his brother made the ultimate sacrifice in World War II.
He was one of 80 veterans from across the Tri-State to attend the Honor Flight on Tuesday.
Anderson and the other veterans visited the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War memorials.
Roy returned home around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and his other sons, Ron and Troy were there to welcome him home.
Here is when Roy was asked about the trip:
The full-day trip is capped off by a special presentation at CVG.
Ron tells us that the homecoming ceremony is well-worth attending the next time Honor Flight occurs which will be on October 23.
“It is absolutely amazing what the family does for the vets. They have this big hallways with a drum band and welcomed everyone home, and both sides of the hallway were packed. It is absolutely amazing,” his son, Ron, said
