Lawrenceburg unveils Esports gaming center funded by grant

$20K grant provided by altafiber

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind) – Lawrenceburg High School opened its new state-of-the-art Esports gaming center on Monday.


The company altafiber awarded Lawrenceburg High School a $20,000 Elevating Education technology grant to support the school’s Esports program and help finance the upgrades, which include 13 gaming stations


Lawrenceburg High School’s Esports team is entering its third year of competing in the Indiana High School Esports Network.


Esports have been growing in popularity to attract students who are aren’t involved in traditional athletics or afterschool activities to increase academic performance, enhance digital skills, and create more inclusive environments.


“I’m so excited about the opportunities our new Esports gaming center will create for students. We have a diverse population, and our Esports program is one way that we facilitate connections and friendships across the student body,” said Principal Jared Leiker. “The altafiber partnership will further support our goal of providing an exciting and purposeful learning environment at Lawrenceburg High School.”
