(DELAWARE, Ind.) - Local firefighters and community members are mourning one of their own.
Jarred Meinders, of Milan, passed away at the age of 48 on Saturday.
He was president of the Delaware Fire Department and was also a member of Batesville Fire & Rescue.
Multiple agencies from across Ripley County and beyond shared their condolences on Facebook.
"Thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters from the Delaware Community Volunteer Fire Department this evening as we mourn the loss of one of their members," the Milan Fire Department said.
"Bright Fire Department would like to extended our deepest condolences to The Delaware Fire Department and Batesville Fire and Rescue for the unexpected passing of their member Jarred Meinders. We offer our thoughts, prayers and services to you and your community," Bright Fire said.
Meinders also worked for Southeast Indiana REMC and was a member of the Ripley County Health Department Advisory Board, and the Sons of American Legion in Milan.
He also was involved in 4-H judging.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
