EMA officials issued evacuation order Tuesdaya fternoon
(WHITEWATER TWP., OH.) – Some local first responders are on the scene of a “dangerous” chemical leak in Ohio on Tuesday afternoon.
A Lawrenceburg engine and a ladder truck from Greendale have responded to provide mutual aid.
The incident is taking place in the area of U.S. 50 and Ohio 128 just north of Cleves.
Hamilton County Emergency Management officials have issued an immediate evacuation order in the area. A shelter has been opened for the public on Dry Fork Road.
They previously urged nearby residents to go indoors and stay inside until further notice.
According to WLWT, the leak was from an open valve on a train car that is hauling carrying styrene gas.
Styrene is considered considered a toxic gas when inhaled in high concentrations, causing potential serious health effects.
There is currently no evacuation orders for residents here in Indiana.
