Local hunters to fundraise for girl battling Leukemia

Dustin Rump Big Buck Contest held in Moores Hill Saturday

(MOORES HILL, Ind.) – Local hunters will gather for a fundraiser that will benefit a 3-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Leukemia this summer.

It will take place at the Dustin Rump Big Buck Contest in Moores Hill Saturday.

The contest was created in honor of Dustin Rump in 2009 as a way to carry on his name while supporting others.

On Saturday, local hunters will gather in advance of deer season to sign up for the contest. Whoever harvests the biggest deer this fall will win a free mount and a plaque.

This year is a bit different than others after organizers heard about 3-year-old Regan Tremain, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in May.

“This diagnosis obviously came as a shock and turned their world upside down. And while recent tests have thankfully shown a decrease in cancer cells, her course of treatment will continue for the next 2 years with daily medication, weekly appointments, and inpatient and outpatient stays to administer chemotherapy,” organizers said.

All proceeds from Saturday’s Big Buck Contest will go to the Tremain family to help with the financial burden of the illness.

There will also be raffles, auctions, food, a bounce house, live music, and more.

The event will be held on Goff Lane in Moores Hill starting at 3 p.m. and we encourage you to click this link if you want to learn more.
