Happened early Thursday morning in Country Squire Lakes
(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – A North Vernon man is behind bars after a traffic stop led to a high-speed pursuit early this morning.
Jennings County deputies stopped a vehicle around 3:30 a.m. in the area of County Road 150 North and Kipper Lane.
The driver was identified as 25-year-old Jason Duncan and there was a female passenger in the vehicle as well.
Deputies say Duncan sped away from the traffic stop and reached speeds of 100 miles-per-hour on county roads.
The pursuit eventually entered Country Squire Lakes when the vehicle stopped and Duncan allegedly fled on foot.
A Bartholomew County K-9 was able to track Duncan into a wooded area, according to the sheriff’s department.
“Failure to comply with commands led to the K-9 apprehending Duncan where a brief struggle occurred. Duncan was ultimately taken into custody without further incident,” deputies said.
Duncan was arrested on numerous charges including probation violation, escape from home detention, resisting law enforcement, reckless driving and possession of paraphernalia.
The female passenger was released from the scene without any charges.
