(MIAMI) -- Batesville native Bryan Hoeing was optioned to Triple-A by the Miami Marlins on Saturday, according to the Miami Herald.
The move corresponds with the Marlins acquisition of reliever David Robertson from the New York Mets.
Hoeing was called up to the big league roster in April and pitched in 23 games this season.
The 26-year-old started six of those games while also coming out of the bullpen. He has posted a 4.57 ERA with 35 strikeouts.
Hoeing being sent to the minors comes at an unfortunate time for many local fans and supporters. The Marlins are scheduled to play in Cincinnati on August 7-9.
However, there is a chance Hoeing could return to the big leagues either by the Reds series or at a later date this season.
The 812 was planning to unveil custom shirts along with a bus trip ahead of Hoeing's games in Cincinnati next week. Would you still be interested in a shirt? Let us know at news@812now.com and if there is demand we'll place an order!
