Replaces Sen. Chip Perfect who announced his retirement
(DILLSBORO, Ind.) -- A new senator will serve District 43 after a caucus was held on Tuesday night.
Randy Maxwell was voted in to replace Sen. Chip Perfect, who will retire later this month.
Maxwell garnered 56 votes, while candidates Sam Mortenson had 17 and Joe Volk had 7.
The caucus was held at the Dillsboro Civic Center earlier tonight.
Maxwell will serve the remainder of Sen. Perfect's term which runs through 2026.
District 43 includes Dearborn, Jefferson, Ohio, Scott and Switzerland counties, and portions of Jennings County.
