Students wearing superhero shirts on Wednesday
(MILAN, Ind.) – Students at Milan Elementary are participating in the Great Kindness Challenge this week.
The challenge is a bullying prevention program aimed at improving student relationships.
Students are spending the week performing kind acts at school while counselor Michelle McKittrick will present a lunch-and-learn about kindness to the kids.
“Also, throughout the week, staff will be handing out "Kindness citations" to students who are caught being kind,” Kate Stock with Milan Schools said.
Each day features a clothing theme as well, from superhero shirts, to sports shirts, to black-and-yellow apparel.
Students are challenged each day to reach a different goal, from saying “good morning” to five different people one day, to the next where they are asked to compliment at least five people.
