The American Legion are helping keep the cost down for students
(MILAN, Ind.) -- Milan Middle School is getting help from local veterans for the annual Washington, D.C. trip.
Organizers say higher costs of bus transportation would lead to a significant increase in how much students pay to attend.
"The sponsors of the trip were concerned that the huge jump would eliminate many of the students," said Kate Stock.
Organizers reached out to the Milan American Legion for help.
The Legion responded in a tremendous way by donating $10,000 to offset the large transportation increase allowing the trip cost to be more within reach for many students who plan on going next May.
"The Milan D.C. trip sponsors are so grateful to their local American Legion for their donation and show of support for our Milan students," Stock said.
