Bee Alarmed Project
(MILAN, Ind.) – A Milan seventh grader is teaming up with his local fire department to help save lives.
13-year-old Wil Wheeler is collecting monetary donations with the goal of purchasing upwards of 150 smoke detectors.
Wheeler has partnered with the Milan Volunteer Fire Department and they plan to physically hand smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to community members in June.
“I’ve had four instances in my career as a volunteer firefighter that a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector has saved a life. It actually just happened the other day where we discovered carbon monoxide was present during a call,” said Milan assistant chief Rod Johnson.
The partnership between Wheeler and the fire department is called the Bee Alarmed Project.
You can donate by sending a check to the Milan Fire Department. Their address is 201 E. Ripley St. Milan, Indiana 47031.
