Mt. Carmel recess area gets upgrade during Fall Break

Made possible by parent-teacher organization

(CEDAR GROVE, Ind.) – Mt. Carmel School students are getting a recess surprise as they return from Fall Break on Monday. 


The parent-teacher organization known as the Mt. Carmel School APPLES spent the past week revamping the blacktop play spaces at the school.


They are also installing gates across the north driveway to ensure added security during school hours. 


This project was made possible through a Lead Forward Community Grant awarded to the school through the Lilly Scholars Network earlier this year.  


Mt. Carmel alum and 2010 Franklin County Lilly Scholar Molly Belmonte helped apply for the grant, and also helped paint the play spaces. 


The Mt. Carmel School APPLES is an organization open to parents, guardians, grandparents, staff, and community members who want to benefit students. 


They have participated in numerous events and programs over the past several years.
