Second consecutive year he's qualified
(CEDAR GROVE, Ind.) – A Mt. Carmel sixth grader will be among the best spellers in the entire Tri-State in early March.
Mason Slayback has qualified for the WCPO 9 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee.
It marks his second trip as he also advanced to the regional spelling bee last year.
His mother, Nicole, says words can’t express how proud she is of her son.
“His eagerness to always want to learn more and more is extraordinary. His smile brightens everyone’s day and if not he will have a joke on hand,” Nicole Slayback said.
Mason will compete at the regional spelling bee on March 9. If he advances, he will go to Washington, D.C. for the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
