Former Charger fights back to win title
(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – North Decatur graduate Sidney Parmer is a member of the Marian University women’s golf team.
Her squad claimed their second-consecutive Crossroads League Title on Tuesday.
Parmer was named the individual champion of the tournament, but it didn’t come easy for the former Charger.
She entered the day in fifth place. However, she battled back and found herself within striking distance of first place.
Parmer finished her round with a 70 score, as her two-under finish gave her a finishing score of 223.
Parmer tied a golfer from Indiana Wesleyan which later forced a playoff between them.
“As the players reset on hole 18, Parmer played three strong shots, with her approach shot landing on the green within 10 feet of the cup,” according to the Marian University golf team.
Parmer would later sink a birdie putt to claim the individual championship.
Her victory gives Marian a second-straight league medalist. The win also earned the college an automatic berth to the NAIA Championships in Illinois later this month.
