New Workwear Store Opens; Aims to Ensure Safety For All

Cosawove Workwear opens new location.

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – On Saturday, community members gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of the opening of a new workwear store in Batesville.

Cosawove Workwear aims to bridge the gap for women in trades, while providing safety for all.

In 2022, Lisa Hutson began her journey to design safe women’s workwear from her basement in Sunman.

“I realized women were still wearing men’s workwear in a lot of manufacturing and trades,” Hutson said. “I thought this is 2022. This is not how it should be.”

Since then, she gathered a team and brought her project to Batesville.

“As I looked at Batesville, there’s something so special about this place and the people of Batesville that really wanted us to have our anchor be (here),” Hutson said.

While the company began with the goal to create and ensure safe workwear for women, Hutson and the Cosawove team have aspirations of impacting the future of trades and manufacturing, starting with outreach in local schools.

Cosawove Workwear plans to collaborate with local schools and trades, to provide experience to younger students exploring potential career interests.

“With the high school, we have kids that might not be A-B students. They kind of believe they’re not important and that’s so far from the truth,” Hutson said. “You’re great at something. Let’s start figuring that out now.”

The project is ongoing as Lisa and her team have plans to impact the Batesville community by collaborating with other groups.

The new location is open to the public now, located at 3 West Pearl St.
