Non-profit recovery group '1 Voice' launches shoe drive

Donations help locals in recovery and people overseas

(AURORA, IND.) -- Do you have gently worn, used or new shoes that you're willing to donate to a good cause?

'1 Voice' is launching a shoe drive with funds going toward the Community Recovery Center in Dearborn County.

The non-profit '1 Voice' is a recovery advocacy organization with the mission of providing education, support services, and a safe recovery community in Southeast Indiana.

You can donate the shoes by stopping their location at 111 Fifth Street in Aurora.

The shoes will then be distributed to those in need from across the world through the Funds2Orgs program. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries.

'1 Voice' has a goal of collecting 500 pairs of shoes a week!

"We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for local people struggling with mental health and/or substance abuse, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It's a win-win for everyone," said Ryan Johnson, President of 1 Voice.

The shoe drive campaign will conclude in October.
