One in custody after armed robbery at Hollywood Casino

UPDATE (Sunday at 7 p.m.)


The suspect in the Hollywood Casino alleged armed robbery has been identified as 39-year-old Daniel Birdseye, of Cincinnati.


Prosecutors are expected to release more information Monday afternoon.


He has been initially charged with armed robbery, confinement, and battery against a public safety official.


An initial hearing for Birdseye is set for Tuesday, March 5 at 3 p.m. in the Dearborn Circuit Court in Lawrenceburg.


Earlier report (Saturday at 11 p.m.)


(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – This is an update from a story The 812 first reported earlier tonight.


A confirmed armed robbery took place at Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg on Saturday night. 


It happened around 7:40 p.m. and it led to a massive police presence at the casino. 


The suspect fled the casino and went into the oxbow area near the property. 


Dearborn County Sheriff Shane McHenry tells The 812 that law enforcement utilized K-9’s as well as drone technology from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. 


The suspect was taken into custody after a manhunt.


It is not believed that any shots were fired during the incident. 


There is no active threat at the casino.


The 812 spoke with several casino-goers who frantically exited the casino and found shelter in their car in the parking garage during the incident.


Initial Report (8:30 p.m. Saturday)


(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – There is a large police presence at Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg. 


It is unclear what the situation is but a person who was in the casino said it was an armed robbery.
