One killed in crash involving train in Decatur County

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- A Greensburg man was killed when a train collided with his vehicle Monday.


78-year-old Charles Papenhaus was driving a van when he turned onto County Road 200 East from State Road 46 around 12:30 p.m.


A westbound train collided with his vehicle when me made the turn onto the county road, according to the Indiana State Police.


Papenhaus died at the scene. Nobody else was hurt.


The train was operated by Indiana and Ohio Railway.


The crash remains under investigation and the Indiana State Police were assisted by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, and the Decatur County Coroner’s Office.
