Some people were upset by it
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – This is Steven Harmeyer and I did receive some emails and messages today regarding my choice for the photo of Donald Trump winning the election.
Matter of fact, I received some negative comments from both political sides telling me how terrible I am.
I am under no obligation to respond and typically wouldn't, however, I do feel like clearing the air on this one.
The only reason being, is that I am TERRIBLE at talking about myself - plus I never want someone to feel alone or feel nobody has their back. I created The 812 to support ALL local people, no matter what.
Why that Photo?
Regardless of how you feel about the President-elect, his political comeback is among the best in American history and I felt his mugshot is the epitome of that comeback.
Also, I always try to be different than the typical news. I thought the photo selection was great and different than anywhere else, however, perhaps it was a bit short-sighted.
I do believe the majority of people don’t care whatsoever. However, there are a few that do and that does bother me a bit, because there is far more that unifies us than divides.
In regard to politics, I don’t care what side you’re on and your affiliation never crosses my mind. When people reach out for stories, I am much more concerned about what you're doing for your community than how you vote.
Simply put, I just love covering the people of Southeast Indiana and showing the world why my hometown is such a great place to live. This is my dream job x1000!
For those who don’t know, The 812 is not a team of reporters. It is only me and I founded this company in 2021 after working in typical news, as well as city government, for several years.
My goal has always been to share what makes Southeast Indiana great and I try to do that everyday, and it is a blessing to do so.

I looked at it and just thought hmm... I think he's he's thinking what a lot of us Americans are, or should be thinking... 'When I get to become President again, I'm gonna tear your a$@es up like you THOUGHT you were gonna do to me!!! True game on!!! 😁
Even though you may be well intentioned, you lack wisdom. Keep trying to stay positive. I believe you are really trying! And, thanks for the 812.... it keeps me connected to my former area.
You are right in your photo selection. President Trump is resilient. This one tells a story. You can't keep a good man down.

Truth of the matter is I for one LOVE this photo… It shows that the American people chose a felon to once again be our president. (Insert eyeroll). Great picture selection! Love reading your stories!
