(RIPLEY CO., Ind.) -- Three years ago in February of 2020 we converted a 7 acre hay field to Pollinator\Wildlife habitat.
The seed was planted with a seed drill and we were told to be patient as wildflower and native grasses "sleep" the first year focusing building a deep root system.
The second year is the "creep" year where some wildflowers begin to appear but not in full force.
The third year the wildflowers "leap" and put on quite a vivid show of beauty!
The seed mixture contains over 30 wildflower species, Little Bluestem, Wild Rye Grass and Sideoats Grama. The field is now teaming with butterflies, bees and birds such as Gold Finches pecking at the seed heads.
So if you decide to plant native wild flowers seeds be patient! Remember they Sleep, Creep and then Leap!
