The 812 was at one of their stands in Hidden Valley in 2022
(SOUTHEAST INDIANA) -- The annual Payton’s Lemonade Stand fundraiser takes place across the Tri-State on Saturday with some locations here in Southeast Indiana.
12-year-old Payton Obert, of Cincinnati, had an illness that required her to be hospitalized at Cincinnati Children's Hospital a few years ago.
While in the hospital, she received a teddy bear. The gift inspired her to start a lemonade stand at her Dent, Ohio home to raise money for toys for other sick children.
Payton's Lemonade Stand has grown from one stand in 2018 to a large non-profit with 90 stands this year. The initiative brought in $100,000 in 2023.
The motto is “Kids Helping Kids” and sports teams, friends and others are encouraged to sign up and host a stand.
There are two locations in Southeast Indiana this year:
27309 Leona Drive in Brookville
1378 Brindlestone Drive in Hidden Valley
The mission is to improve the lives of children who are facing medical, personal or economic hardships. The non-profit also strives to empower kids to participate in philanthropy.
You can learn more or even register to host a stand next year by visiting Payton's Lemonade Stand.
Payton's work has been featured on Cincinnati TV as well as ABC News. Click here to watch.
