Photos: Semi hauling potatoes catches fire near Greensburg 

Happened Monday morning

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A semi from Idaho hauling potatoes caught fire while driving through Decatur County Monday morning. 


It happened around 5:40 a.m. near the 138 mile marker on I-74. 


The driver from Pocatello, Idaho called 9-1-1 after his brakes caught on fire and the trailer was fully engulphed, police said. 


Greensburg Fire Department and New Point Fire Department arrived on scene to extinguish the fire.


Both eastbound lanes were shut down until approximately 8 AM, when the left lane was opened to traffic. Both lanes were finally opened at approximately 12:15 PM.


Agencies who assisted include the Greensburg Police Department, Decatur County EMS, Indiana State Police, Indiana Dept. of Transportation and TDS Heavy Towing and Recovery.
