Police: Beware of Treasury Dept. phone scam

Scammers ask for money over the phone

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- The Greensburg Police Department is warning the community about an ongoing phone scam.

Individuals will call and claim to be agents from the Department of the Treasury.

"They will request payment and banking credentials," Greensburg Police said

The Department of the Treasury will not request payment information over the phone.

Community members should disregard any suspicious requests for money and banking information over the telephone.
