Officers used flashbang, taser during altercation
(GUILFORD, Ind.) – A Dearborn County man is facing multiple charges after a standoff on Saturday night.
Deputies were called to a home on Heritage Trail in Guilford for a report of a domestic altercation.
An officer located 66-year-old Michael Malloni was found lying in a landscape bed and appeared to be pointing a gun at the officer, according to the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police said Malloni did not comply with multiple verbal commands and allegedly was taunting the officers.
Given the nature of the situation, officers asked Dearborn County Communications to conduct a reverse 911 to residents in the area to shelter in their homes until the person was apprehended.
Additional officers arrived and a flashbang and taser was used to detain Malloni, police said.
The prosecutor said an unloaded handgun was found near him.
Malloni allegedly became belligerent with officers and was believed to be intoxicated.
He was eventually transported to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center after being medically cleared.
Malloni has been charged with Domestic Battery, Pointing an Unloaded Firearm, Resisting Law Enforcement. Additional charges are possible.
He had his initial hearing Monday morning where bond was set in the amount of $50,000.
