Burglar allegedly chased woman through house
(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – A North Vernon man is accused of breaking into a home early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. at a home on County Road 150 South in North Vernon.
27-year-old Jonathon Skaggs allegedly entered the home, made himself some food, walked into a female’s bedroom and then chased her around the house.
The male homeowner was able to grab a gun and held Skaggs at gunpoint until deputies arrived, police said.
Skaggs allegedly told police that he had tried to break into several different homes but this was the first residence that he was able to access with an unlocked door.
"This was a very scary incident for a local homeowner that could have had a much more tragic ending. We want to strongly advise residents to make sure that they lock their homes," Jennings County Chief Deputy Cody Low said.
Skaggs is currently behind bars at the Jennings County Jail and has been charged with Burglary and Residential Entry.
