Police: Traffic stop puts halt to multi-state drug transport

Police say they discovered approximately $5K of illegal substances

(SEYMOUR, Ind.) – Seymour Police say they discovered marijuana in various forms during a traffic stop this weekend. 


The traffic stop occurred on East Tipton Street around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.


According to the department, an officer noticed the smell of marijuana which led to a search of the vehicle. 


Police say they located marijuana, marijuana in wax form, marijuana vape pens, and marijuana in gummy form.


The total weight was 1.5 pounds and police say the estimated street value is over $5,000. 


Police say the vehicle was transporting the items from Chicago to Huntsville, Alabama. 


53-year-old Melissa Herron, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with dealing in marijuana and possession of marijuana.
