Holt addresses abortion in her first Nashville single

(NASHVILLE, TN.) – Milan native Rachel Holt released her first single called “I Was Gonna Be” at midnight Friday.

This is her first release through her record label Baste Records.

The song was written by Chris Wallin, who has penned major hits for Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Montgomery Gentry and other artists.

“When Chris first showed me this song it was instant chills. My parents were with me and we were all stunned,” Rachel told The 812.

"I knew that the world needed to hear it. and I’m glad that I can spread such a powerful message through this song."

To promote the song, Rachel is going live on the Tim Pool Daily Show from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight. The podcast host has a substantial national audience with more than 2 million people following him on Twitter.

Holt is stepping out of her comfort zone with this song as it was written from the standpoint of a child that was aborted.

"If I can leave an impact on even one person through this song, then that’s all that matters,” Rachel added.
