Remember the Cross Plains Lottery Scam? A fund is open for local non-profits

For organizations that serve Cross Plains

(CROSS PLAINS, Ind.) – There was a lottery scam that took place at a small business in Cross Plains in 2004.

A man named William Foreman worked for the lottery and found out that the winning tickets for a $2M scratch off game would be sold at Otter's Market.

He shared that information with two friends who traveled to Cross Plains and bought up all the tickets from the market.

Officials discovered the scam when the prizes were attempted to be claimed. A lottery official recognized one of the suspects as Foreman’s friend. Foreman was later sentenced to eight years of home detention.

The incident led to the establishment of the Cross Plains Endowment Fund. The fund supports projects which promote the economic development

of and quality of life in Cross Plains.

All non-profit organizations which serve Cross Plains are invited to submit an application seeking $500-$1000 in grant funding to support a charitable program or project.

The Cross Plains Grant application must be submitted virtually by clicking here.

The deadline to apply is on May 31.
