Ripley Co. deputy passes away at 65

Worked as courthouse security officer

(VERSAILLES Ind.) – A longtime deputy for the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office has passed away. 


Steve Sullivan passed away at the age of 65 on Sunday. 


Steve was best known in the community as an officer with the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department. He first began his career as a Reserve Officer for the Town of Osgood and as a Deputy Reserve Officer the sheriff's office in 1998.


He then became a full-time merited deputy and was currently working part-time as Ripley County Courthouse Security. Steve was a member of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association and the Ripley County FOP. 


He was given a Lifesaving Award after saving a life during a car fire in 2012. 


Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
