Ripley Co. man arrested for rape, incest in Kentucky

Police say the crimes happened in Kentucky

(HOLTON, Ind.) – Indiana State Troopers have arrested a Ripley County man on suspicion of rape and incest. 

The investigation into 42-year-old Joel Stoltzfus, of Holton, began in February when alleged criminal activity was reported to the Versailles post. 

Police say the incidents happened in Christian County, Kentucky on at least two occasions between 2005 and 2008.

“These allegations uncovered by investigators were different than the original criminal activity reported at the start of the investigation,” ISP spokesperson Stephen Wheeles said. 

ISP troopers worked with Kentucky State Police investigators which led the case being submitted to a prosecutor. 

That resulted in a warrant being issued for Stoltzfus on August 7 for two counts of rape and two counts of incest. Stoltzfus was arrested without incident in Ripley County last week.

He is being held at the Ripley County Jail awaiting extradition back to Kentucky.
