SCAM Alert: Caller poses as Dearborn Co. deputy

Sheriff's Office has received multiple complaints about scam

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam.

They have received numerous reports of a caller claiming to be a member of the sheriff’s office and uses a deputy’s name.

“The scammer claims to have an important legal matter to discuss.  Some calls were about jury duty and others claim to have a warrant,” the sheriff’s office said.

The scam then involves the caller asking for money to take care of the issue.

This is a scam and do not send money. The sheriff’s office would never ask for money or conduct legal matters like this.
