Scam Alert: This child is not missing from Aurora

Scam happening nationwide

(AURORA, Ind.) – There is a Facebook scam involving a missing child circulating nationwide that has now reached Southeast Indiana. 

The post claims that an autistic child named Brandan Cooper has been reported as missing by the local police department. 

Locally, the post claims the boy was reported missing by the Aurora Police Department. We saw it shared from the "Aurora Indiana Yard Sale" group.

This is not true and there are multiple police departments from across the country warning their citizens about this exact scam.

We found posts from police in New York, South Carolina and West Virginia who have issued statements saying this is an online scam.
