South Dearborn community holds vigil for Bryce Valdez

Balloons and fireworks filled the night sky

(AURORA, Ind.) – The South Dearborn community gathered at the high school to honor a 2021 graduate on Sunday night.

21-year-old Bryce Valdez lost his life after a car crash on U.S. 50 and Hollywood Boulevard in Lawrenceburg this past week.

Valdez was a standout football player for the Knights and had been working as a union lineman.

The vigil was attended by hundreds of people that knew Bryce either as a family member, former teammate or friend.

Hundreds of lantern balloons were lit and flown over the high school field as fireworks were also launched.

A memorial service for Valdez will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home in Aurora.
