Community members stopped by the schools
(AURORA, Ind.) – South Dearborn Community Schools hosted several people from around the community on Friday, March 8th, in celebration of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day.
There were 32 people who visited classrooms at Aurora, Dillsboro, and Manchester Elementaries to culminate a week-long celebration of Dr. Seuss and a love of reading.
Readers volunteered to read two books to the students. .
Among those who read books were Officer McBroom and his K-9 Raiko, deputy sheriff Tara Sprandel, Dillsboro police officer Josh Cady, Aurora police officer Craig Elliott, Thom and Leanne Maltbie of the Dillsboro Art Guild, Carie Baylor from Baylor Trucking, Aurora EMS, Aurora Town Manager Austin Woods, Aurora Mayor Patrick Schwing, Aurora Public Library District Director Leslie Sutherlin and many members of the APLD staff, and Sandy Whitehead, Stefanie Hoffmeier, and Julie Robinson from the Dearborn County Recycling Center as well as several staff members from South Dearborn High School and Middle School.
In addition, Officer McBroom and his K-9 visited the high school to spend some time with the special needs class in the high school library.
Students and staff enjoyed hearing everyone read great books and appreciated that so many from the community took time out of their busy day to read to them.
