Wismann is South Dearborn's all-time leading scorer
(AURORA, Ind.) -- A South Dearborn standout soccer player will continue her athletic career at a Division 1 program.
Bernadette Wismann made it official last week when she signed her letter of intent with IUPUI.
Wismann credits her parents, siblings and coaches for pushing her to be the best she can be.
"I started playing when I was 3 or 4-years-old and I have three brothers, we all play soccer," she said.
Wismann says it was in middle school playing for the Tempest FC soccer club when her skills really started to develop.
Wismann is South Dearborn's all-time leader in career goals and career assists.
"In addition, she broke the school record for most goals in a season at 32 her sophomore year and most assists at 17 her junior year," said South Dearborn athletic director Ryan Walston.
The Dillsboro native also earned 12 varsity letters, EIAC offensive MVP, all-EIAC conference, and Indiana Coaches All Academic Player.
Wismann was also voted South Dearborn's hardest worker and team MVP.
She officially signed with IUPUI on Friday and was joined by her parents and coaches from Tempest and South Dearborn.
"I've always loved soccer and getting to play at the next level is amazing and I'm really looking forward to it," she told The 812.
She plans to major in nursing and hopes to become a nurse practitioner in the future.
