Took place from August 12-14
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The South Decatur Cross Country team is giving back to the youth for the second year in a row.
They held an elementary cross country running camp for students in grades 2-6 last week.
The three-day camp gave the young students an opportunity to learn about nutrition, hydration, stretching, and running form at stations led by current high school runners.
The first two days ended with running games like Color Wars, and a short race was held at the end of the last day.
"We want to continue making running fun for these kids," Coach Bethany Former said. "Building a love for the sport at an early age is always the goal."
The first place boy and girl finishers for each age group are as follows:
Second Grade: Braden Lavender and Lyla Evans
Third and Fourth Grade: Brock Evans and Rose Schwering
Fifth and Sixth Grade: Kyran Cole and Emma Leising
