South Ripley volleyball honors victims, survivors of breast cancer

Program raised money for 2003 graduate on Tuesday

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) -- The South Ripley volleyball program dressed in pink and decorated the school for breast cancer survivors and victims on Tuesday.

The team collected donations for Bridget Cornett, a 2003 South Ripley graduate, who is currently battling breast cancer.

Players designed signs and taped pink balloons that surrounded the court. All the money raised during the games went toward the Cornett family.

Middle school players wore pink socks during their games against Switzerland County while their high school counterparts had pink uniforms.

The high school opponent, Morristown, also honored the event as they are affected by cancer as well.

2020 Morristown graduate Quinton Batton is currently battling Acute myeloid leukemia.

Cornett was honored during the JV and Varsity game when head coach Lisa Gilpin gave her the donations the Raiders collected.
