(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Civil War rivalry between North and South Decatur was a hard fought contest on the volleyball court Tuesday.
The Cougars got off to a hot start by winning the first two sets.
However, things took a turn when the Chargers claimed the third and fourth sets, forcing a fifth and final set.
South Decatur coaches say the fifth set is when the Cougars showed the resilience they have had this season.
The Cougars beat the Chargers 18-16 in the final set to claim the match.
“Coach Bennett made the best call a coach could have made and it lit a fire under the girls. This team deserved this win tonight. Our seniors have worked so hard for the past four years and it was amazing to see them finally get it,” the team said.
Top performers for South Decatur were Makayla Somers, Taylor Somers and Aniston Bostic.
