Southern Ind. case overseen by Ripley Co. prosecutor reaches plea deal

Watch Hertel discuss the case (Video: WLKY)

(JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.) – There was a plea agreement Monday in a corruption case that Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel has served as special prosecutor.

Former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel pleaded guilty to numerous charges related to an investigation into misusing millions of public funds from an EMS agency.

The plea agreement comes with a 15-year prison sentence and Noel would have to pay back $3.1M in public funds.

The judge did not accept the plea agreement Monday as he said he wants to hold off until he hears from victims.

Noel’s wife and daughter are also charged in connection to the case.

Hertel was assigned to the case back in November. Click here to read our initial report.
