(SUNMAN, Ind.) – A St. Nicholas eighth grader used training he received in school to save the life of a classmate.
Timothy Eckstein noticed a fellow eighth grader was choking on a mint in the stairwell on Wednesday.
Eckstein rushed down the stairs and immediately performed the Heimlich Maneuver and was successful.
This isn’t the first time Eckstein has saved a life. A few years ago, he helped save his brother during a diabetic seizure.
St. Nicholas Catholic School provides all sixth, seventh and eighth graders with annual CPR and Heimlich Maneuver training each year.
The school just hosted the training program in September and you can read that story here.
