Officials addressing safety concerns
(WEST HARRISON, Ind.) -- The Indiana Department of Transportation just installed stop signs to create a safer traffic flow at the westbound I-74 off-ramp in West Harrison.
The intersection has been the site of several serious crashes in recent years.
INDOT put stop signs in each direction of U.S. 52 to make it an 'all-way stop' this week.
There is also a flashing sign to warn drivers of the upcoming stop sign.
On Wednesday night, The 812 observed Indiana state troopers monitoring the traffic, after several drivers didn't stop at the new stop signs.
"This intersection improvement will address safety concerns at this intersection as well as current backup at peak hours on the off-ramp," INDOT officials said.
