Batesville student creates kids group that spreads positivity
This week we're celebrating 11-year-old Hannah Vulgan of Batesville!
Despite suffering a broken arm during the schoolyear, Hannah finished fifth grade with straight A's at Batesville Intermediate School!
She's also making quite the difference outside of the classroom.
We first met Hannah when she was holding a sign that reads "You Are Enough" along a busy intersection in downtown Batesville last week.
It intrigued us, so we stopped by.
That's when we met her mother, Brenda Vulgan, who is a part-owner in a family-owned business called Shine Holistic Services.
Brenda says Hannah recently came to her with a simple idea:
"To start a kids group that promotes positivity in the community"
Mom said yes and that's when "Shine Kids" was born.
Shine Kids meets each month and welcomes anyone age 5-18. Each meeting and every project is different.
So far, the group has painted inspiring messages on rocks and placed them around town, helped with the community garden, and the kids have also delivered hundreds of cards with positive messages to others.
All because Hannah had an idea. And it's growing.
Shine Kids will meet again on July 13 for a fun project and new kids are invited!
The group will learn about the art of Quilling.
The class is from 2-4 p.m. and Shine Kids will make positive quotes quilling cards.
Just hours later, the class will hand them out to community members during the Batesville Food Truck Festival.
You can learn more and register your child for the free class by visiting www.shineholisticservices.com
Back to Hannah:
She also loves music and dance! Hannah's future goal is to become a music teacher.
Her passion for music stems from her aunt Morgan and she's currently taking lessons at Miss Shannon's Music Studio in Batesville.
She also enjoys dance lessons at Miss Lizzy's Performing Arts Studio.
Hannah is embarking on a new challenge when she makes her acting debut at the Tree County Players in Greensburg later this month.
Luckily, Aunt Morgan is directing the play.
