(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – Just hours after graduating, a local student saved a life on the same night she received her diploma on Thursday.
Alexis Harrison-Ochs attends South Dearborn and graduated from the Southeastern Career Center last night.
She was in the Health Sciences program and her goal is to one day be a nurse.
After the graduation ceremony, the family celebrated her achievement by getting dinner at a Greendale restaurant.
During dinner, Alexis looked over at her sister and immediately sprung into action.
Her sister was choking and Alexis successfully performed the Heimlich Maneuver.
Alexis says she learned that skill from taking the Health Sciences program at the career center.
