STW PREVIEW: Batesville Bulldogs

Updated: Jul 5, 2023

The Bulldogs goal is to win the EIAC this year

Quick notes:

Class 3A Sectional 31

Head coach: Evan Ulery

Record at Batesville: 41-36; 8th year at Batesville

2022 Record: 6-6; lost to Lawrenceburg, 33-7 in Sectional Championship

The Batesville Bulldogs are a team looking to make that push. The Bulldogs went 6-6 last season, making it to the Sectional Championship where they lost to the 3A State Runner Up Lawrenceburg Tigers. If you ask Coach Ulery, the goals are simple; Win the EIAC, win their Sectional Championship and make a run for a State Title.

Quarterback Will Jaisle looks to help the Bulldogs make that push. The junior had a solid sophomore season, racking up 1,256 yards on 102 completions with 14 touchdowns. He also produced in the ground game with 743 rushing yards and tacked on an additional 8 touchdowns. He loses a weapon in WR Bryson Bonelli but sophomore WR Cade Kaiser looks to fill that role and get more production on offense to add to his 470 yards and 5 touchdown Freshman season.

Sophomore RB Gage Pohlman is looking to add to his impressive freshman year where he racked up 766 yards and 5 touchdowns. Look for him to try and reach that 1000 yard mark this season.

Up front, you’re going to want to keep an eye on G/C Zach Davidson who is looking to become more of an anchor on offense with Blake Hon graduated.

Over on the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs lost a few starters in Trenton Roell, Nick McConnell and Trenton Kincad but a young group of guys look to take over in their place. Cade Kaiser, who we mentioned on the offensive side of the ball, did play both ways last year so expect him to pull double duty again. He racked up 76 tackles and 5 interceptions in 2022 as a DB. LB Carter Bohman looks to improve on his 82 tackles from last season and he will be complimented by LB Bobby Weiler and DT Max Amberger.

Be sure to get out and support your Bulldogs in 2023!
