Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corp. boosting student support

More programs, new scholarship

(ST. LEON, Ind.) – The Sunman Dearborn Endowment Corporation (SDEC) will give $47,500 to bolster extracurricular programs at their five local schools.

The funds will be used to ensure all students have access to diverse and enriching activities beyond the classroom, helping them to develop essential life skills and interests.

SDEC will also purchase new furniture that matches the current building projects and library redesign at East Central High School.

The endowment is also launching a new scholarship initiative. SDEC will offer six scholarships each valued at $5,000 to deserving students of the class of 2025 who are planning to attend a trade school.

Successful applicants will be permitted to renew the scholarship for a 2nd year, for a total of $10,000.

“We are immensely proud to continue our support for the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools through these significant contributions,” said Dr. Andrew Jackson, President of the Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corporation and Superintendent of Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools. “These initiatives are designed to provide our students with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in both academic and extracurricular endeavors.”
