Switzerland Co. teen commits to college livestock judging

Story written by student journalist Cadyn Smithson

(VEVAY, Ind.) – Switzerland County senior Macy Collier has committed to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College to continue her passion for livestock judging.

Collier was surrounded by friends and family Friday afternoon as she made school history to be the first ever to sign to a livestock judging program.

Macy joined livestock judging in 3rd grade, but didn’t take it seriously until her 7th grade year when she and another student signed up for a livestock judging camp at Oklahoma State University.

“I went out there not expecting much, thinking it was going to be a field trip, but it turned out it  would completely change the way I thought about livestock judging,” Macy said.

Collier plans to obtain her associates degree in Nursing at the college and then attend either Oklahoma State or Kansas State University to finish her bachelors degree.
