The Varsity team is currently undefeated
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Lawrenceburg High School girl’s soccer team is eyeing a deep run into the state playoffs this year.
It wouldn’t be unfamiliar territory as the Tigers lost to the eventual state champion Guerin Catholic in the Regionals last season.
Despite losing six seniors from last year, head coach Bill Offutt felt confident that this could be another successful season.
“I knew we were going to be competitive and we expected a good team, but this might be a little more than we expected,” Offutt told The 812.
The Tigers are currently 10-0 and coming off a big win against #7 Bishop Chatard over the weekend.
The team also had a historic victory against East Central this year, where they beat the Trojans for the first time in a decade.
Offutt says what makes this team special is the chemistry and leadership from the seniors.
“We’ve had several great teams in the past but I would say this one is among the top I’ve coached, and that is based on how much they rely on each other,” he said.
Among the leaders are senior Preslee Rugg who is currently leading the team in goals and assists.
Other seniors making an impact on the field are Morgan Manford, Kayli Mueller, Hillary Knippenberg, Alivia Bushman and Ashley Watkins.
There are two seniors who are big parts of the team but have been sidelined due to ACL injuries.
They are Kelsey Offutt and Isabella Gilmour and coaches say they remain a major part of the team and are supportive of the girls.
Offutt added that there are substantial contributions being made by the younger girls as well.
Lawrenceburg will host South Dearborn for Senior Night on Wednesday.
